Legal notice, terms and privacy
The rules for taking the throne and how we handle your data, written as simply as we can. Last updated: 13 October 2026.
1. Contact
For anything, write to hello@polyphorm.studio, in English or Italian. It is also the single point of contact for authorities and users under the EU Digital Services Act (Regulation 2022/2065, arts. 11 and 12). Who runs Kingillion and all the business details are at the end, in section 5.
2. Terms and conditions
These terms are the contract between you and Polyphorm di A.M. when you take the throne. If you are a consumer, you always keep the rights that the law of your country does not allow anyone to take away.
2.1 What you buy
You buy display space on kingillion.com: the throne at the centre of the castle. While you are king, your picture paints the king on the throne and the banners on the towers, next to your name, a message and, if you like, a link. The throne stays yours until somebody else buys it: there is no minimum duration, it may be months or a minute. Only pay what the space is worth to you.
Kingillion is not a game, a bet or an auction: you buy at once, at the price shown. There are no prizes, winnings or jackpots, and nobody receives money when they lose the throne.
2.2 The Million Wall and the list of kings
As a free extra, every king gets a portrait on the Million Wall behind the throne and a place in the list of all kings. On the wall, longer reigns get bigger portraits and portraits shrink as new kings arrive; when the wall is full, the shortest reigns leave the wall and stay in the list of all kings. They are a keepsake, not part of what you buy: we guarantee no size or position, and they stay for as long as Kingillion is online.
2.3 Who can buy: adults only
You must be 18 or older. Small amounts need no papers; for larger ones we check your age:
- once your purchases exceed €100 in total, before paying you photograph a valid identity document of yours and Stripe Identity checks that it is genuine and reads your date of birth: anyone under 18 is turned away;
- once they exceed €1,000 in total, a selfie is also needed, matched against the photo on the document;
- the name on the document must be the payer's: if it does not match, we cancel and refund the payment before the coronation.
Fooling the check with a fake document or someone else's is a crime: whoever does it cannot later ask for the purchase to be annulled (art. 1426 of the Italian civil code), and parents are liable for damage caused by their minor children (art. 2048). If a minor still managed to buy without deceiving us, for example through an error of the check or with a purchase under €100, a parent can write to hello@polyphorm.studio and we refund the price.
2.4 Price and payment
The first king paid €1. Each new king pays at least 12.45% more than the last one; you may pay more, which raises the price for whoever comes next. A single payment cannot exceed €1,000,000: once the price gets there, every new king pays exactly €1,000,000. The price you see is final, taxes included.
Payments go through Stripe Managed Payments: for the payment the seller is Stripe ("Sold through Link"), which collects it, pays the taxes of your country and sends you the receipt and invoice. We never see your card details. On your statement the payment shows as "LINK.COM* POLYPHORM.ST". We ask for an email, where Stripe sends the receipt and the invoice and we send the postcard of your coronation and a notice when your reign ends (see section 3.2). If someone else takes the throne while you are paying, your payment is refunded automatically and in full.
Only pay with a card or account that is yours, or that you are allowed to use: using someone else's card without their consent is a crime (art. 493-ter of the Italian criminal code). To answer disputes, Stripe keeps the payment data (date, IP address, authentication with the bank, ticked confirmations) and we keep the result of the identity check.
2.5 Your picture, name, message and link
Only upload content you have the rights to; if the picture shows an identifiable person other than you, you need their consent. Not allowed:
- nudity, sexual or suggestive content;
- minors;
- public figures, photos taken from other people's profiles, sites or archives;
- violence, weapons, self-harm, drugs;
- hate symbols, insults, threats, harassment or mockery of real people;
- politics: parties, candidates, elections, referendums;
- gambling, betting, lotteries, crypto, investments, giveaways;
- web addresses, QR codes, phone numbers or promo codes inside the picture;
- famous brands, copyrighted characters, other people's works;
- anything illegal, deceptive or shocking.
The name on the throne is a nickname of 2–24 letters, digits, dots, dashes or underscores. It belongs to the first king who uses it: only they (with the same email) can use it again. Capitals, "@" and signs do not count ("@Giulia" and "giulia_" are the same name). Names posing as Kingillion or the people who run it are not allowed, in any form.
The link must lead to a lawful site: no gambling, adult content, dating, scams, investments, drugs, weapons, hate, politics or pages that hide where they lead. Links are marked as sponsored.
Before the coronation your picture, name, message and link are checked automatically by an artificial intelligence system (Claude, by Anthropic), which also opens the linked page. If something is not allowed, the coronation does not happen, you pay nothing and we tell you why. If you think the refusal is wrong, write to us and a person will review it.
You give us a free, worldwide permission to show, crop, resize and turn into pixels and voxels your picture and texts on Kingillion and in images that represent it (for example previews when someone shares the site), for as long as they are online. Your content stays yours and you are responsible for it.
2.6 Reports and removals
If you think a portrait, name, message or link is illegal or breaks these rules, use "Report" on the king's card or write to hello@polyphorm.studio. Tell us which king, why it is a problem, your name and email, and confirm that the report is made in good faith. We review every report carefully and without delay.
If we take content down, an emblem replaces the picture and the name, message and link disappear; the reign and its price stay on record. We explain the reason to whoever posted it, if we have a way to reach them, and anyone who disagrees can write to us to contest the decision. Content removed for breaking these rules gives no right to a refund. If content suggests a crime that puts someone in danger, we report it to the authorities.
2.7 Right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer you have 14 days from the purchase to withdraw without giving reasons. Your reign starts at once, at your request, so:
- if you withdraw while you are still on the throne, your reign ends, the throne goes back to the previous king and we refund the price minus the part of the service already received, counted as 1/14 of the price for every day, or part of a day, you spent on the throne;
- if someone has already taken the throne after you, the service has been fully performed: since you asked for it to start at once and accepted losing the right of withdrawal on full performance, you can no longer withdraw.
We refund within 14 days, using the same means of payment. Outside these cases and those provided by law, the price is not refunded.
Form: "To Polyphorm di A.M., hello@polyphorm.studio. I hereby give notice that I withdraw from my purchase of the Kingillion throne of [date], under the name [name on the throne], paid with the email [payment email]. Date:"
2.8 Availability and changes to the service
We do our best to keep Kingillion running, but there may be interruptions for maintenance or because of our providers. If we decide to close Kingillion we announce it on the site at least 30 days in advance; the reign in progress ends with the closure.
2.9 Liability
We provide the service with care and are liable for damage we cause intentionally or through gross negligence, and in every case where the law does not allow liability to be excluded. We are not liable for damage due to causes beyond our control, to third-party services or to content posted by kings.
2.10 Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, the changes apply to later purchases: your reign stays governed by the terms in force when you bought it.
2.11 Governing law and disputes
Italian law applies, without prejudice to the mandatory protections of the law of the country where you live. If you are a consumer, the courts of the place where you live have jurisdiction. Please write to us first: we always look for a friendly solution. You can also turn to an alternative dispute resolution body, such as the mediation service of the Chamber of Commerce.
3. Privacy notice
This notice explains how we handle your personal data under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (2016/679) and Italian law.
3.1 Data controller
Polyphorm di A.M. (full details in section 5). For any question about your data write to hello@polyphorm.studio.
3.2 What data we use and why
- Portrait and texts: the picture (which may show your face), the name on the throne, the message, the link, the price paid, and when the reign started and ended. We publish them on Kingillion because they are the service you buy (contract): anyone visiting the site sees them.
- Content check: the picture, name, message and link are sent to Anthropic (Claude) for the automatic check before publication (contract and our legitimate interest in not publishing illegal content). Anthropic processes them on our behalf and, under its commercial terms, does not use them to train its models. You can ask a person to review a refusal.
- Age check: beyond €100 of purchases in total Stripe Identity checks your identity document and, beyond €1,000, your selfie. We receive the result, the name and the date of birth; the images stay with Stripe, which processes them on our behalf. It keeps us from selling to minors and lets us answer disputes (contract, legal obligation and legitimate interest); the face match, which uses biometric data, happens only with your explicit consent.
- Payments: handled by Stripe, which is the seller for the payment; we receive the email, country, amount and status of the payment, for the contract and for tax obligations. With each purchase we also record what you accepted, when, the browser and a code that cannot be traced back to your IP address, to answer disputes (legitimate interest).
- Emails about your reign: to the address you give us when you buy we send only two service messages about your reign: the postcard of your coronation and, when someone else takes the throne, a notice with how long it lasted (performance of the contract, art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). We never use your address for advertising, promotions or newsletters, and we share it with no one except Resend, which delivers these messages on our behalf. You can still stop them at any time, with one click on the link at the bottom of every email or by writing to us; for an address that unsubscribes we keep only the request not to write to it again.
- Reports and messages: the name, email and text of whoever writes to us, to handle reports, withdrawals and requests (legal obligation and legitimate interest).
- Technical data: IP address and browser in the server logs, for security and operation (legitimate interest). Deleted after a few days.
- Usage statistics, only if you accept analytics cookies: pages viewed, clicks and scrolling (also shown as heatmaps), a recording of the visit with every form field hidden, device and browser, the site you came from and an approximate location derived from the IP address. We use them to understand how Kingillion is used and to improve it (consent, art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), and you can withdraw it at any time. PostHog Inc. processes them on our behalf. If you do not accept, none of this is collected.
We do no profiling and no advertising, and we never sell or hand over your data.
3.3 Who helps us (processors)
- Supabase: database and pictures, on servers in the European Union (Frankfurt).
- Vercel: hosts the site and the server functions.
- Anthropic: automatic content check.
- Stripe: payments and identity checks.
- ImprovMX: receiving email.
- Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc., United States): sending email.
- PostHog Inc. (United States, US cloud): usage statistics and session recordings, only with your consent.
3.4 Transfers outside the European Union
Some providers are based in the United States. Transfers rely on the European Commission's adequacy decision on the Data Privacy Framework, for companies that joined it, or on the standard contractual clauses approved by the Commission. PostHog Inc. is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (see dataprivacyframework.gov).
3.5 How long
- Portraits and reigns: for as long as Kingillion is online, or until you ask us to remove them.
- Payment data and the result of the identity check: 10 years, as tax law requires.
- Reports and messages: up to 24 months.
- Addresses that asked for no more emails: for as long as Kingillion is online, only to respect the request.
- Technical logs: a few days.
- Usage statistics: up to 12 months; session recordings: up to 30 days.
3.6 Your rights
You can ask us at any time to see your data, correct it, erase it (including removing your portrait from the wall and the list of all kings), restrict its use, receive it in a machine-readable format and object to processing based on legitimate interest and to our emails (also with the link at the bottom of each one). Write to hello@polyphorm.studio: we answer within 30 days. You can also complain to the Italian data protection authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, garanteprivacy.it) or to the authority of the country where you live.
3.7 Minors
Kingillion does not sell to anyone under 18 and does not knowingly collect data from minors. If you think a minor has given us their data, write to us and we delete it.
3.8 If you live in the United States
We do not sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising. You can exercise the same rights described above by writing to hello@polyphorm.studio.
4. Cookies and device storage
Always on, strictly necessary: in your browser's storage we keep your sound and music preferences, any invitation key, and your cookie choice (kingillion:analytics-consent). Only if you take the ID check do we load Stripe.js, which stores two technical anti-fraud cookies (__stripe_mid, for one year, and __stripe_sid, for 30 minutes). They are all needed for the service you ask for and require no consent.
Analytics cookies, only with your consent: if you press "Accept" in the banner, we load PostHog (PostHog Inc., United States, US cloud) for the usage statistics, heatmaps and session recordings described in section 3.2; every form field is hidden in the recordings. PostHog stores a random identifier and the visit details in the cookie ph_<project key>_posthog and in a localStorage entry with the same name, for up to 12 months, plus a few ph_* keys in sessionStorage that end with the visit. If you press "Reject" or ignore the banner, PostHog is not loaded at all: no cookie is set and nothing is sent.
You can change your choice at any time from (also from the menu of the home page). Withdrawing consent stops the statistics and deletes PostHog's cookies from your browser; it does not affect what was collected before.
When you pay, Stripe's page may use its own cookies, under Stripe's rules.
